Miami International Film Festival Will Replace Ultra Music Festival's Partnership With Winter Music Conference 2011

In less than two months, Miami will be the place to be - thousands of tourists will travel to the world-famous party city to witness the pairing of Miami International Film Festival and Winter Music Conference for the first time in history - but how are UMF & WMC fans and attendees really feeling about this situation?

Okay so Here's the scoop, according to a WMC press release, UMF will no longer take part during the annual "WMC Week" - apparently UMF has removed itself from WMC, despite a signed contract from October 15, 2009 which still binds them together.

The arrangement of the contract (as stated in the press release) is: "that the 2011 UMF would be presented during the five-day period in February, March or April 2011 designated and promoted by WMC as the ‘WMC week’".

However, it seems that WMC has now found an official replacement for it's previous partnership and is teaming up with MIFF. MIFF & WMC are creating a "Film and Music Passport", a discounted pass for MIFF attendees which will give them access to WMC seminars, networking parties, and performances - WMC badge holders will also have similar access to MIFF events such as screenings and networking parties.

Either way, the 2011 UMF will take place on March 25, 26, and 27 - about two weeks after the WMC event.

This is the first time in history that UMF will be extended for three days - last year the UMF crowd rampaged passed security after the fact that all tickets for the event were sold out.

UMF has won the International Dance Music Awards title of "Best Music Event" for the years of 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010.

* Stay tuned as for I will be posting the nominees for the 2011 IDMA as soon as I get the rest of the scoop - when it's available.
